Memoir-writing Art Stay at Emandal!
You are invited to the chapbook release of Dani Burlison’s Creative Sonoma ArtSurround Project, “Ancestors of Place: Community, Land and Connection in Sonoma County.”
Opening November 9, 4-6pm
Beginning with a Death Cafe and writing circle in November, we will explore our relationship to death, land-based animism, grief and joy, dreams, synchronicity and rituals for ancestral reverence and connection
As the veil between the worlds grows thin this Samhain, we will come together to explore themes of transition, change, and ancestry (of blood and craft).
What better time to find balance with your creative pursuits than the Equinox? As we prepare ourselves for the days growing shorter, we will write stories and construct journal covers among the beautiful gardens and oaks at Emandal.
The Heavenly Bodies Summer Writing Program will be virtual, delivered through a series of email lessons for all genders that include weekly writing prompts, self-care tips, readings, activity and/or research suggestions, podcasts and/or video links, and more. The prompts, readings and other tidbits will center the physical body, the emotional body, connection to place, ancestral wisdom, and plant medicine, and aim to help you connect more deeply with your own body and to spark inspiration to deepen your creativity and care of self and community.
This free writing workshop for Sonoma County Residents is a part of a larger public art program called Ancestors of Place, made possible through an art grant from Creative Sonoma's ArtSurround Program. An additional event and chapbook release reception will take place at Escolar in Fall 2023.
Dani & Alyssa Rose will be here with their new zine: Baba Yaga: Healer, Seer, Witch. October 22, more details to come!
